Just yesterday we were stoking the fire at home in the winter, or was that the day before? Weeks seem to run together these daze in a perpetual ‘Groundhog Day’ loop. That being said, life has seemingly slowed down quite a bit, which makes more time in the studio, making better meals (slowly), walking more and a never ending longing to get out and travel.
This weekend, August 2020 happens! Usually at this time our big yet rural county of Mendocino is flush with tourists from around the world. Beaches are crowded, lodging is hard to find, restaurants are a hummin, wine tasting rooms are full and tourist destinations along the coast are enjoying their ‘Christmas’. For the first time in this writer’s lifetime, none of this is or will be occurring because of a tiny little unseen ‘bug’ that travels the world looking for unsuspecting hosts….Mr Covid.
Since a few brave souls need to, have to, just can’t wait to get outta town and breath in the Pacific ocean aire, the coast will see a smattering of folks this normally vacation month. Bless em, for they tread lightly with all fashions of masks and precautionary measures to adhere to, all in an effort to enjoy themselves, the sites, the air, their much needed vacation time and a tiny bug will not stand in their way.
If you are one of these travelers who are visiting us on the coast, we welcome you, especially if you are being safe and want to keep all of us safe. Yeah, face mask air ain’t what it’s cut out to be, yet its better than being incubated in a hospital.
We welcome you to visit our home of art every weekend in August at Edgewater. Tell us where you’re from, let us show you around our dedicated crew of artists who live here. Enjoy the coast, breath in the salty air, wear a most fashionable mask and most of all, have some fun while staying safe. We want to see you again when this is all behind us!
