Greg Burdick

I have been working with wood in Mendocino County, California, for more than 30 years. Living among the redwood forests has shaped the way I see and make art. I am especially drawn to redwood burl, a remarkable material known for its rich grain, swirling patterns, and unexpected forms.

Every burl is different. Each one has its own character, and I try to listen to what the wood suggests before I begin carving or shaping it. My goal is not to force the material into something unnatural, but to bring out the beauty that is already there.

Whether I am making a table, a bowl, or a wall piece, I think of my work as both useful and sculptural. I want each piece to carry the feeling of the redwood forest: its age, strength, and quiet beauty.

Through my work, I hope to share some of the wonder I feel living and working among these ancient trees.

All tables can be shipped.
