Karin Denson
I was born in Poland (Silesia), grew up in Germany, and moved with my family to the US in 2014. For many years I worked as a special education, Montessori, and art teacher.
In my paintings, collages, and photography, I explore the fragile intersections of nature and technology. Inspired by digital glitches and damaged ecosystems, my work uses visual metaphors of disruption to reflect on ecological collapse, transformation, and the possibility of renewal. Glitch aesthetics—the accidental artifacts of malfunction—offer a way of seeing instability, adaptation, and resilience in a changing world.
My practice grows out of a deep love of the natural world and an enduring fascination with digital processes, especially their unpredictable outcomes. Through abstract forms and layered imagery, I express concern for endangered environments while also attending to their beauty, vitality, and capacity to endure.
In my work I hope to make visible the entanglements of species, systems, and technologies. I care about the fragile interdependencies that connect human and nonhuman life. We are part of the same beautiful, endangered, and wounded world, and protecting other species is also a way of protecting ourselves. Ecological crisis is real, and our awareness is more important than ever if we are to meet the increasing challenges of our times.
