Neno Villamor

Exploring movement in human and animal figures has always driven my artwork. Being a dancer in the African Dance community coupled with close observation of the animal world lends energy, color and rhythm to my sculptures; with many of my pieces telling story.

When I started teaching I became interested in paper and its ability to hold a shape other than flat. I discovered that paper, in the form of pulp, could be cast in a mold made from an original modeling clay, low relief sculpture. Later I would apply the same technique to casting freestanding original sculptures. Working with molds allows me to create "Multiple Originals", with each new casting embellished differently. This also allows for custom orders of my artwork.

After living and creating in the Santa Cruz area for 26 years, I have returned to Northern California to be part of the Mendocino County arts community. I am pleased to share my work at Edgewater Gallery in Fort Bragg.
